On Friday, 26/10, we joined a collective visit to the wasteland around the West Station and the metro station Beekkant. The area awaits a thorough development in the future with new apartments, productive and commercial functions but also large green spaces. Before the definitive works start, a temporary and participative occupation will be organized.

Vendredi 26/10, nous avons participé à une visite collective dans les friches autour de la Gare de l’Ouest et de la station de métro Beekkant. La région attend un développement approfondi dans le futur avec de nouveaux appartements, des fonctions productives et commerciales mais également de grands espaces verts. Avant le début des travaux définitifs, une occupation temporaire et participative sera organisée.

Op vrijdag 26/10 namen we deel aan een collectief bezoek aan de ongebruikte ruimte rond het Weststation en het metrostation Beekkant. Het gebied wacht op een grondige ontwikkeling in de toekomst met nieuwe appartementen, productieve en commerciële functies, maar ook grote groene ruimten. Voordat de definitieve werken beginnen, zal een tijdelijk en participatief gebruik worden georganiseerd.

We think a place as accessible as this, where all metro lines of Brussels are passing, and with lots of families living nearby, would be a great location for an open air pool. It could start as a temporary installation that becomes a permanent pool in the future! What do you think?

Nous pensons qu'un lieu aussi accessible que celui-ci, où toutes les lignes de métro de Bruxelles passent et où vivent de nombreuses familles vivant à proximité, constituerait un excellent emplacement pour une piscine en plein air. We denken dat een zo bereikbare plaats waar alle metrolijnen van Brussel langskomen, en met veel gezinnen in de buurt, een geweldige locatie zou zijn voor een openluchtzwembad. Het kan starten als een tijdelijke installatie die in de toekomst uitgroei tot een permanent zwembad. Wat denk je?

An ambitious example could be the Astoria Park Pool in New York. Built in the 1930's in a park along the East River, it's still today a destination for people from all over the metropolis.
