Who would have thought that you don't even need (a lot of) water to have fun in a pool? The SUPER DRY POOL at SuperVlieg SuperMouche Festival 2017 proved exactly that!
It was a great pleasure for everyone, first and foremost for the hundreds of kids who came for a dry swim. There was a happy madness in the pool, almost untamable for our lifeguards. But once they got the big hose they became the true masters of the pool. Hours of joy were completed by a pool party with people dancing in and around the pool.

Qui aurait pensé qu'on n'as pas besoin de l'eau (ou très peu) pour s'amuser dans une piscine? C'était exactement ça… la piscine super sèche sur le Festival SuperVlieg SuperMouche 2017!
C'était un évènement extraordinaire pour tous et surtout les centaines d'enfants qui sont venus nager au sec! C'était une scène presque indomptable pour nos secouristes. Mais au moment où ils ont pris la main sur l'arroseur d'eau, ils sont devenus les véritables maîtres de la piscine. Après plusieurs heures de plaisir, nous avons fini avec une pool party ou tout le monde dansait dans les piscine et aux bords.

Wie had ooit gedacht dat je (bijna) geen water nodig hebt om plezier te beleven in een zwembad? Dat was precies het super droge zwembad op het SuperVlieg SuperMouche Festival 2017!
Het was een fantastische belevenis voor iedereen en vooral voor de honderden kinderen die een rondje kwamen droogzwemmen. Het droog zwembad was een te gekke belevenis voor gelukkige kinderen, bijna ontembaar voor onze redders. Maar eens ze de watersproei in de handen hadden, waren ze de absolute meesters van het zwembad. Uren plezier werden afgesloten met een pool party waar iedereen rond en in het zwembad danste.
We took the day as a chance to spread our mission and ambitions to the people and received great feedback and unanimous support for the re-introduction of (real) public open air swimming in Brussels. All the children, squealing with glee, became overwhelming ambassadors for our cause.
What the SUPER DRY POOL also showed is that it's not only the pool itself that contributes to the atmosphere of an open air pool. It's also all the space around. Parents and visitors enjoyed watching the bustling crowd of youngsters while relaxing themselves in the deck chairs, having a drink or two from the bar or tried some cricket cookies.
The SUPER DRY POOL was simply both: a proof for the necessity of real pools in Brussels and a great space to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon with the whole Family.
Nous avons saisi cette occasion avec deux mains pour répandre notre mission et ambition. Nous avons reçu le soutien unanime pour réintroduire la natation publique en plein air à Bruxelles. Les enfants qui hurlaient de plaisir étaient les meilleurs défendeurs de notre cause!
La piscine super sèche a également montré que l'eau ne contribue pas seulement à l'ambiance d'une piscine en plein air. Il y a aussi l'espace autour. Les parents et les visiteurs ont pu apprécier la foule animée de jeunes dans les chaises de plage ou avec un verre au bar à côté.
La piscine super sèche était tout ça à la fois: une preuve claire qu'une réelle piscine en plein air est nécessaire à Bruxelles et que c'est un excellent endroit pour passer un dimanche après-midi agréable en famille.
We hebben deze dag met beide handen gegrepen om onze missie en ambitie te verspreiden. We ontvingen dan ook zeer positieve feedback en unanieme steun om openlucht openbaar zwemmen in Brussel te herintroduceren. De kinderen die het uitgilden van plezier waren de beste ambassadeurs voor onze missie!
Het super droog zwembad toonde ook aan dat niet alleen het water bijdraagt aan de sfeer van een openlucht zwembad. Het is ook de ruimte erom rond. Ouders en bezoekers genoten ervan om te kijken naar de drukke menigte van jongeren terwijl ze zelf even een pauze namen in de strandstoelen of iets dronken van de bar.
Het super droog zwembad was gewoonweg beide: een duidelijk bewijs dat echte openlucht zwemmogelijkheden in Brussel nodig zijn en een super ruimte om een leuke zondagnamiddag te spenderen met de hele familie.
The SUPER DRY POOL would not have been possible without the support of friends and partners. At first we want to say "Thank you!" to all the volunteers who helped us on 3 days preparing and running this project. We also want to thank the whole team of SuperVlieg SuperMouche for the invitation and great organization of the Festival. Thomas of Zinderling and Wouter of Productions en Zonen were the best lifeguards you can imagine, nobody drowned! Benoit and Thibaut of Requin Baleine filmed during the whole day, capturing the activities and interviewing kids and parents. Thanks to Tom of Nest Brussel for printing 1000 bath caps. We hope to see them back again in a real pool in the future. And Commando Guimauve convinced us that you can dive even above ground. Thank you to Velo m2 and all the cyclists who produced the electricity for the music.
