POOL IS COOL cares about an inclusive and social approach to outdoor swimming. Public outdoor swimming infrastructures such as FLOW create job opportunities for up to 40 people per season, about a fourth of them lifeguards. This is why we work together with partner organisations like Cenforgil. Cenforgil trains people with less chances on the labour market to become future lifeguards. Some of the diploma holders you may already be familiar with through FLOW!
FLOW’s ‘angels in orange’
Our FLOW lifeguards dressed in the signal colour orange play just as important a role as our FLOWers (our student staff dressed in dark blue) for the functioning of the pool. They do not only save lives, they are also in charge of security measures and keeping an eye on the water quality. On top of that, they ensure a positive and social atmosphere that allows our guests to enjoy themselves in as well as outside of the water. Last summer, the FLOW team was reinforced by lifeguards Brahim and Emilie, both trained by our partner, the non-profit association Cenforgil.
Cenforgil: Opening up future perspectives for the disadvantaged
Cenforgil promotes socio-professional insertion by offering tailored formations to people who may be disadvantaged on the local labour market due to their educational background or origin. Trained professionals get such candidates ready to kickstart their career in Brussels, for example as lifeguard. Both favouring inclusivity and diversity and complementing each other in their offers, Cenforgil and POOL IS COOL work together to help people with less opportunities to take up employment.
Become a lifeguard with Cenforgil… and work at FLOW during the next season 2024!
During a theoretical and practical formation at Cenforgil and in swimming pools, motivated people who did not obtain a secondary school degree, or foreigners without a diploma equivalency, can learn how to ensure the safety of swimming areas and obtain the necessary certificates to be employed as lifeguards. After successful completion of the training, the candidates have the unique chance to make their first experience on terrain as lifeguard at the only outdoor swimming pool in Brussels, our swimming pool FLOW in Anderlecht. Formation as ‘Lifeguard’ at Cenforgil
General course: Physical preparation, advanced swimming techniques, communication and conflict management, etc.
Higher certificate water lifeguard (Brevet Supérieur de Sauvetage Aquatique): Anatomy, physiology, first aid and resuscitation, rescue techniques, training in pools, etc.
First aid certificate and AED: Resuscitation, defibrillation, oxygen therapy, accidents and first aid, etc.
Conditions
Minimum age 18 years
Not in possession of secondary school degree or no diploma equivalency (for foreigners)
Be registered as job seeker at Actiris
Good physical condition
Basic knowledge of French (French courses are part of the programme)
Pass a written test for basic professional competences
Pass physical admission test
Pass motivation interview
Program schedule
Formation at Cenforgil during 5 months, starting from mid February 2024 (late applications accepted until mid February!)
Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 to 17:00 (35h/week)
Work as lifeguard at FLOW: Combine your lifeguard training with a first paid assignment on terrain at our outdoor swimming pool FLOW in Anderlecht! We promise you a valuable experience set in a unique and fun environment. We will organise an information session during the first weeks of your formation at Cenforgil, where you will have the chance to meet our lifeguards and hear about their experience at FLOW.
We encourage women as well as non-binary people to participate.

POOL IS COOL favorise une approche inclusive et sociale à la baignade en plein air. Des infrastructures publiques telles que FLOW créent des opportunités d'emploi pour 40 personnes par saison, dont environ un quart de sauveteurs. C'est pourquoi nous travaillons avec des organisations partenaires telles que l’asbl Cenforgil. Cenforgil forme des personnes ayant moins de chances sur le marché du travail à devenir de futurs sauveteurs. Certains des titulaires de ces diplômes vous sont peut-être déjà familiers grâce à FLOW !
Les "anges en orange" de FLOW
Nos maîtres-nageurs FLOW habillé.e.s en orange jouent un rôle tout aussi important que nos FLOWers (notre personnel étudiant habillé en bleu foncé) pour le fonctionnement de la piscine. Ils.elles ne se contentent pas de sauver des vies, ils.elles sont également chargés des mesures de sécurité et de la surveillance de la qualité de l'eau. En outre, ils.elles assurent une atmosphère positive et sociale qui permet à nos clients de s'amuser dans ainsi qu'en dehors de l'eau. L'été dernier, l'équipe de FLOW a été renforcée par la sauveteuse Emilie et le sauveteur Brahim, les deux formé.es par notre partenaire, l’asbl Cenforgil.
Cenforgil : Ouvrir des perspectives d'avenir aux personnes défavorisées
Cenforgil favorise l'insertion socio-professionnelle en proposant des formations sur mesure aux personnes qui risquent d’être défavorisées sur le marché du travail local en raison de leur parcours scolaire ou de leur origine. Des professionnels formés préparent de tels candidats à démarrer leur carrière à Bruxelles, par exemple en tant que sauveteur.euse aquatique. Favorisant tous les deux l'inclusion et la diversité et se complétant dans leurs offres, Cenforgil et POOL IS COOL travaillent ensemble pour aider les personnes ayant moins d'opportunités à trouver un emploi.

Au cours d'une formation théorique et pratique à Cenforgil et dans des piscines, des motivés n'ayant pas obtenu de diplôme d'enseignement secondaire supérieur, ou des étrangers sans équivalence de diplôme, peuvent apprendre à assurer la sécurité des lieux de baignade et obtenir les certificats nécessaires pour être employés comme sauveteurs aquatiques. Après avoir suivi la formation avec succès, les candidats ont l’occasion unique de faire leur première expérience sur le terrain en tant que maître-nageur dans la seule piscine en plein air de Bruxelles, notre piscine FLOW à Anderlecht. Formation ‘Sauveteur.euse aquatique en piscine’ auprès de Cenforgil
Cours généraux: Préparation physique, approfondissement des techniques de nages, communication et gestion de conflit, etc.
Brevet Supérieur de Sauvetage Aquatique: Anatomie, physiologie, 1er soins et réanimations, techniques de sauvetage, pratique en piscine, etc.
Brevet de secourisme et DEA: Réanimation, défibrillation, oxygénothérapie, accidents et 1er soins, etc.
Conditions
Avoir plus de 18 ans.
Ne pas avoir obtenu le certificat de l’enseignement secondaire supérieur et pour les étrangers, ne pas avoir une équivalence de diplôme.
Être inscrit.e comme chercheur.euse d’emploi chez Actiris.
Être en bonne condition physique.
Connaissances de base en français (des cours de français font partie du programme)
Satisfaire aux tests écrits qui permettent d’évaluer les compétences professionnelles de base.
Satisfaire au test d’épreuve physique d’admission.
Satisfaire à l’entretien de motivation.

Formation de sauveteur.euse à Cenforgil, durée de 5 mois à partir de mi-février 2023 (dernières inscriptions acceptées jusqu'à la mi-février!)
Du lundi au vendredi de 9h à 17h (35h / semaine)
Devenir sauveteur.euse chez FLOW : Combinez votre formation de sauveteur avec une première intervention rémunérée sur le terrain dans notre piscine extérieure FLOW à Anderlecht ! Nous vous promettons une expérience précieuse dans un environnement unique et convivial. Nous organiserons une séance d'information au cours des premières semaines de votre formation à Cenforgil où vous aurez l'occasion de rencontrer nos sauveteur.euses et d'en savoir plus sur leur expérience chez FLOW.

WIJ geven om mensen
POOL IS COOL geeft om een inclusieve en sociale benadering van buitenzwemmen. Openbare openluchtzweminfrastructuren zoals FLOW creëren werkgelegenheden voor tot 40 mensen per seizoen, waarvan ongeveer een vierde redders en reddsters zijn. Daarom werken we samen met partnerorganisaties zoals Cenforgil asbl. Cenforgil leidt mensen met minder kansen op de arbeidsmarkt op tot toekomstige redder.ster.s. Sommige diplomahouders ken je misschien al via FLOW!
FLOW's 'engelen in oranje'
Onze FLOW redder.ster.s gekleed in de signaalkleur oranje spelen net als onze FLOWers (ons studententeam gekleed in donkerblauw) een belangrijke rol voor het functioneren van het zwembad. Ze redden niet alleen levens, ze zijn ook belast met veiligheidsmaatregelen en controleren de waterkwaliteit. Bovendien zorgen zij voor een positieve en sociale sfeer waardoor onze gasten zich zowel in als buiten het water kunnen amuseren. Afgelopen zomer werd het FLOW team versterkt door de reddster Emilie en de redder Brahim, allebei opgeleid door onze partner, de vzw Cenforgil.
Cenforgil: Toekomstperspectieven openen voor benadeelde personen
Cenforgil bevordert de sociaal-professionele inschakeling door formaties op maat aan te bieden aan mensen die door gebrek aan opleiding of afkomst benadeeld zijn op de lokale arbeidsmarkt. Opgeleide professionals maken deze kandidaten klaar om hun loopbaan in Brussel op te starten, bijvoorbeeld als redder.ster. Cenforgil en POOL IS COOL zijn beide voorstander van inclusiviteit en diversiteit en vullen elkaar aan in hun aanbod. Ze werken samen om mensen met minder kansen aan werk te helpen.
Word Redder.ster bij Cenforgil... en werk bij FLOW tijdens het volgende seizoen 2024!
Tijdens een theoretische en praktische opleiding bij Cenforgil en in zwembaden kunnen gemotiveerde mensen die geen diploma hoger secundair onderwijs hebben behaald, of buitenlanders zonder gelijkwaardig diploma, leren hoe ze de veiligheid van zwemzones kunnen garanderen en de nodige certificaten behalen om als redder aan de slag te gaan. Na het succesvol afronden van de opleiding krijgen de kandidaten de unieke kans om hun eerste ervaring op het terrein op te doen als redder in het enige openluchtzwembad in Brussel, ons zwembad FLOW in Anderlecht. Klinkt dat geweldig?

Opleiding ‘Hoger Redder.ster’ bij Cenforgil
Algemene cursussen: fysieke voorbereiding, zwemtechnieken, communicatie en conflictbeheer, enz.
Brevet Hoger Redder.ster (Brevet Supérieur de Sauvetage Aquatique): Anatomie, fysiologie, eerste hulp en reanimatie, reddingstechnieken, training in het zwembad, enz.
EHBO-opleiding en AED: Reanimatie, defibrillatie, zuurstoftherapie, ongevallen en eerste hulp, enz.
Voorwaarden
Vanaf 18 jaar.
Geen diploma hoger secundair onderwijs behaald en voor buitenlanders, geen gelijkwaardig diploma.
Ingeschreven als werkzoekende bij Actiris.
In goede fysieke conditie.
Basiskennis Frans (cursussen Frans maken deel uit van het programma).
Voldoen aan de schriftelijke examen ter beoordeling van de fundamentele beroepsvaardigheden.
Slagen voor de fysieke toelatingstest.
Voldoen aan het motivatiegesprek.

Opleiding redder.ster, 5 maanden looptijd vanaf midden februari 2023 (late inschrijvingen worden geaccepteerd tot half februari!)

Word redder bij FLOW: Combineer je opleiding tot redder.ster met een eerste betaalde job op het terrein in ons openluchtzwembad FLOW in Anderlecht! We beloven je een waardevolle ervaring in een unieke en gezellige omgeving. Tijdens de eerste weken van je opleiding bij Cenforgil organiseren we een informatiesessie, waar je de kans krijgt om onze redder.ster.s te ontmoeten en meer te weten te komen over hun ervaring bij FLOW.
Wij moedigen zowel vrouwen als non-binaire personen aan om deel te nemen.
