‘Den Dok’, the oldest open air swimming pool of Flanders situated in Geraardsbergen, will be closed after 130 years of existence. To support the activists of Geraardsbergen in their fight against the closure, we will present alternative international pool concepts that might be worth to be considered to open up the discussion.

POOL IS COOL is invited to “Baignade en Ville”, a conference on outdoor swimming in existing waters, organized by the City of Paris. We will join one of the round tables to discus swimming in the city with initiatives that fight for urban swimming as a public right for everyone.
How to mobilize as many people as possible to get together to make the city liveable? POOL IS COOL will join this workshop at Beursschouwburg, focussing on communication and the importance of (social) media. Many other initiatives will share their experience. Free admission.

POOL IS COOL takes part in the second edition of the Brussels Urban Landscape Biennial in BOZAR which reviews the increasingly important role of water in urban areas. We add the question of leisure to the often mainly spatial and technical approach of water management.
